My dog portraits capture the personality and vitality of the animal. It is not practical to work solely from life, but when possible I like to meet the subject to observe their character, taking photographs and notes from which I can work in the studio. Sometimes I need to rely on the owners' photographs.
I work either in oils or in pastels. Oils produce a very traditional result, particularly for a full portrait. The pastel pencils I use give a softer effect, with almost every hair being visible.
Prices, which include framing, start at £350 for a head study in either oils or pastels.
